Ex-soldier could get death in Iraq rape, slayings

This article really disturbed me. I also thought that American soldiers were civilized and had morals. However, this article shows that some obviously don't. Steven Dale Green of Midland, Texas was accused of raping a 14-year-old Iraqi girl and killing her and her family. This just makes me so angry... I understand that in times of war people get lonely and they think more with their animal instincts (killing, bombing, etc). However, I can't justify what this man did... I don't understand how his lawyer could argue for this man. The girl was innocent, forced to do something against her will and then killed for NO reason. Not only that, her family was also killed. I agree with Majid Saadoun, I wouldn't be able to keep myself from slapping someone like that.

However, I don't believe the death penalty is ever a good solution, even with someone as terrible as Green. This man probably wants to die, he's facing life in prison and he must be feelings incredible amounts of guilt (lets hope). Why give him what he wants? I'd prefer to let him suffer in jail for the rest of his life... he deserves nothing less for what he did to that poor girl.
